A truly unique lodge in Northern KwaZulu Natal where the view from the spectacular setting is particularly breathtaking as you gaze out onto Lake Jozini, the Lebombo Mountains and the Pongola Game Reserve. Privately owned and managed by the Blevin family who have lived in the area for many years, Shayamoya exudes a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Guests gather in the central lodge where they join in the camaraderie and share their happy experiences. Shayamoya offers a fully licensed bar to make your stay pleasantly bubbly.
The Bundu Pot restaurant treats you to scrumptious meals of South African flavouring. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, inviting new and interesting friendships. Traditional braais are held outdoors around the crackling fire and the feeling of true Africa reaches every soul. For special occasssions and by advanced notice, Shayamoyas flexibility allows guests to be served breakfasts on the River bank or bush dinners enjoyed under the star-studded sky, lit only by candles. Many of their vegetables, herbs and fruit are home grown at their sister farm, Tamboti Ridge, whose dairy supplies fresh milk, butter, yoghurt and feta cheese.
Refresh with a dip in the swimming pool or cool off under the shade of the gazebo.
The lodge operates on electricity and there is a back-up generator for the odd occasions when there are lightning storms and the electricity supply in the area is cut.
The curio shop is small and contains Shayamoya and African memorabilia - Shayamoyas specialty!
Tiger fishing is the truly exciting activity on offer. These ferocious fighting game fish are rare to South African waters however enjoy these sub tropical conditions. Good sizes have been caught in the Pongolapoort Lake where the official record is 8.3kg. There is also a ranch dam, which is stocked with bass as well as tiger fish. The lodge has a good selection of fishing rods and tackle for hire, but bring your own
fly rods and tackle. Fishing trips are conducted in a 16ft Hustler (Max 2 anglers) and 18ft Dorado (Max 3 anglers).
